Modelling Agencies

Modelling agencies are businesses that represent the interests of models (such as fashion models). These agencies are responsible for organising jobs for their models for which they take a commission payment in most cases. Reputable modelling agencies will not charge models anything to go on their books.

Modelling agencies can work with all kinds of models and can find their artists jobs in all kinds of areas. Examples here include finding jobs for their models with:

Some modelling agencies will specialise in specific areas but many will work across the industry. And, some agencies will only take on certain types of models whereas others may take on a wide range of different models in terms of looks, sizes and sexes.

Modelling agencies will take models on to their books and then will work with them to produce suitable portfolios, composition photos and all kinds of related materials to help further their careers in modelling. Many agencies will also work with their models to train them for different types of modelling especially if the models are inexperienced. A good modelling agency, therefore, will actively work on a model's behalf and give him/her the best chance of getting work in the industry.

Modelling agencies find their models in different ways. Some models will approach an agency when they want to break into the industry and some will move from agency to agency when they have established themselves. Many modelling agencies also have scouts who look for new talent outside of the industry.
